Calycanthus (sweetshrub, spicebush or even strawberry-bush) occurs as genus of flowering plants in the family Calycanthaceae, endemic to North America. A genus includes 2 to 4 mintage based in taxonomical interpretation; two come accepted per Flora of N Usa.

It is deciduous shrubs growing to 2-Four m tall. A leaves are opposite, entire, Five-15 cm hanker & Two-6 cm broad. A flowers are produced around early summertime when a leaves, Four-7 cm broad, by having many spirally-intended narrow dark red tepals (resembling a little magnolia flower); they are strongly scented. A fruit is an elliptic dry capsule 5-7 cm long, containing many seeds.
